Car History
First introduced in 1968, the Opel GT quickly gained attention for its aerodynamic design, often compared to the Corvette of its era. Built by Opel, a subsidiary of General Motors, the GT featured a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout with sleek lines, hidden pop-up headlights, and a lightweight body. It was powered by either a 1.1L or a 1.9L inline-four engine, delivering spirited performance and agile handling for its time. Produced until 1973, the Opel GT earned its place as a cult classic among European sports cars.
Origin of This Vehicle
This particular 1969 Opel GT was originally sold in southern Germany and spent most of its life in a dry, rural area near Stuttgart. It was discovered in a barn in early 2023, untouched for over two decades, showing signs of age but with its original body and engine intact. The car was acquired by Alpine Legends Garage as a restoration candidate due to its remarkably preserved frame and matching numbers drivetrain.
