Mercedes C200
Car History
Launched in 1993, the W202 C-Class was Mercedes-Benz’s answer to the growing demand for compact executive sedans. The C200 variant featured a 2.0L inline-four engine, offering smooth performance and the trademark Mercedes comfort. Built with over-engineered German quality, the C200 quickly gained a reputation for reliability, understated elegance, and refined driving dynamics. It marked the beginning of the “C-Class” lineage, replacing the iconic 190E (W201).
Origin of This Vehicle
This specific 1995 Mercedes C200 was originally purchased by a diplomat stationed in Zurich and was used as a personal city car. After years of careful use and proper garage storage, it was passed down through the family before being sold to a collector. Alpine Legends Garage acquired the vehicle in 2022 with just over 90,000 km on the odometer and full service history—making it an ideal candidate for light restoration.
Restoration Work Done
Our approach to this C200 was to preserve its originality while renewing components to extend its lifespan and reliability:
- Exterior: Full detailing and paint correction of the original Silver Metallic finish; chrome trim restored to factory shine.
- Engine & Mechanical: Comprehensive engine servicing including new timing chain, gaskets, belts, and fluids; gearbox flushed and re-sealed.
- Suspension & Steering: Replaced bushings, shock absorbers, and tie rods to return the factory-fresh ride quality.
- Interior: Original beige leather reconditioned; wood trim polished; climate control system repaired and recalibrated.
- Electronics: All modules tested and refreshed; period-correct Becker radio refurbished and fully functional.
Now restored to near-original condition, this C200 offers a smooth, classic Mercedes driving experience with all the comfort and grace of a true 90s-era executive sedan.
